HOW IT WORKS:
We start on day one with a full-school assembly where we teach students about emotional awareness, growth mindset and what to expect in P.E class through a fun and interactive performance.
Then we go into each physical education classroom and teach students a series of fun physical activities designed for students to learn:
Tools to help better regulate thoughts and emotions
Specific techniques to approach challenges with a growth mindset
How to communicate with compassion and encouragement
Our lessons are based around a traditional game from Japan called kendama. Kendama has been used in Japan to teach growth mindset and mindfulness. We structure our lessons around kendama because it is the perfect game that is not only fun but takes patience and perseverance to learn.
STUDENT OUTCOMES:
Students gain tools to help regulate emotions during challenges
Students learn to communicate with compassion and encouragement
Students learn how to apply a growth mindset to set and reach goals
